A Yellow Flag of Shame to the eleven Cleveland Browns players who chose to kneel during the national anthem. Stop it. You are making things worse. I may actually not watch certain games due to players' actions. I have loved the NFL for most of my life. My handle signifies my love of the pigskin. Please use your money to show your opinion: donate to worthy charities doing good work. Not to hate mongers.

Sitting at 2,999 (Sigh)

MLB

I questioned the wisdom of leaving Austin Bibens-Dirkx in for so long last night. This deserves a "Yellow Flag of Shame." I found myself pacing and hoping (in vain!) for a rally after Orioles CF Adam Jones robbed Joey Gallo of a homerun. Sigh. I'll be tuned in to see the Capitán Adrián Béltre reach the 3K mark. And I will scream like a madwoman. Guaranteed.

Aggies are Number Four!

WHOOP!!!! I was thrilled to see the ranking from the College Football Playoff committee that put my beloved Aggies at number four. And another WHOOP!!!

NFL
On a different, much lower level, I am with Stephen A. Smith on Trent Williams' suspension for four games. STAY OFF THE WEED (OR WHATEVER SUBSTANCE IT IS)!!!! Your life and brain cells are much more valuable unaltered. A giant Yellow Flag of Shame thrown to this individual. Please, son, get yourself straightened out before you become a byword for young players watching your example. Please.

And to end, Jay Cutler actually won a game? Watch out for those flying pigs overhead. They aren't too selective about where they land.

Posting in Time for London, I Suppose.

MLB

Thursday Games
The madness that is post-season has begun with teams trying to grab wild-card spots and hold on as tightly as they can. Look for some fantastic play in the next few days. I know MLB does not get yellow flags, but Braves pitcher José Ramirez needs one after nearly hitting Marlins pitcher José Fernandez in the head.

  2. Cleveland at ChiSox
  3. Tampa Bay at Baltimore
  4. Pittisburgh at Philadelphia
  5. NY Yankees at Boston
  6. Oakland at Kansas City
  7. Milwaukee at ChiCubs

NFL

The NY Jets visit the Buffalo Bills. Yawn. I may or may not tune in using the NFL Mobile App. It's a Bunco night, so I will probably not even check in. Someone has to win this mess. The Yets win and go to .500 on the season. Bills are still winless.

Sickness Struck Again!

I watched the Super Bowl with a horrible sore throat that turned into laryngitis. This is a problem as a middle school language arts teacher. I have made do with the look and one-inch conversations at a whisper. The students have responded well.

I just do not know what to think about the allegations about the Sheriff aka Peyton Manning. I am usually suspicious when disparaging reports surface after a huge, crowning success happens. If the allegations are true, then a Yellow Flag of Shame is covering his legacy. If they are untrue, then the ones who spread lies, rumors, and filth should lose their audience and credibility.

Happy New Year - It's 2016!

Happy New Year to you, sports fans! I’ve had fun making my at times horrendous decisions about who would win certain college bowl games. After missing out on picking the first four games results of bowl season (ugh!), I turned the choices over to my son on the ESPN Capital One Bowl Mania game, and he managed to get me to closer to fifty percent. The last game will be the clincher. Alabama versus Clemson. Be patient. I will reveal it closer to game time.

January 2, 2016  Results – (4-0, thanks, Son!)

  1. Penn State vs. Georgia
  2. Kansas State vs. Arkansas
  3. Oregon vs. TCU
  4. West Virginia vs. Arizona State

How about those TCU Horned Frogs? I was convinced my pick was wrong at halftime with the Frogs down 31-0. I was concerned because of suspended QB Trevone Boykin’s recent tangling with law enforcement. I should have never doubted the indomitable spirit of TCU on the gridiron field. Well done, Frogs. Well done.

A yellow flag of shame to Mr. Boykin for shameful behavior. I liked his charity with that little girl who was a diehard Iowa State fan until she met him. Please turn things around now, sir. Consider this a wake-up call.

NFL – Last Sunday for The Season and NFL Redzone (*sob*)
  1. NY Jets at Buffalo
  2. New England at Miami
  3. New Orleans at Atlanta
  4. Baltimore at Cincinnati
  5. Pittsburgh at Cleveland
  6. Jacksonville at Houston
  7. Tennessee at Indianapolis
  8. Washington at Dallas
  9. Philadelphia at NY Giants
  10. Detroit at Chicago
  11. Tampa Bay at Carolina
  12. Oakland at Kansas City
  13. San Diego at Denver
  14. Seattle at Arizona
  15. St. Louis at San Francisco
  16. Minnesota at Green Bay

The playoff implications are such a tangled mess that I won’t attempt to decipher the madness; however, I will post my bracket later this week once the dust clears.

  10. LA Dodgers at San Francisco           LA Dodgers

I know that there are no yellow flags of shame in baseball, but Washington Nationals players Bryce Harper and Jonathan Papelbon looked silly as they scuffled in the dugout. Infighting is not the proper response to elimination from the playoffs. Tsk!

NFL

1.     Redskins vs. Giants    Giants took care of business on Thursday night and anxiously await the Salsa King’s return in week four.
2.     The Falcons come to see the Cowboys who have no Tony, no Dez, and no chance this week.
3.     Indy wants to be 1-2 and not 0-3. Luck gets back on track. Sorry Marcus!
4.     The Raiders bring their 1-1 record to Cleveland; Oakland wins and shocks them.
5.     Cincinnati will pay the price for the Ravens’ bruised egos.
6.     Jacksonville is improving; however, they are playing the Patriots this week. Nope.
7.     The Aints are coming! The Aints are coming. Panthers shut down the Saints.

13. Buffalo soothes itself with a win in Miami.
14. Seattle and Chicago are both 0-2. Someone has to win this one. Push.

15. Detroit cannot go 0-3. It’s just not good for the Lions Nation. They defeat my General Peyton tonight.

Postponed Games May Save the Day

  1. Rangers at Mariners                Rangers solve this puzzle, I hope.
  2. Rockies at Padres                    Padres
  3. Blue Jays at Yankees              Blue Jays (Postponed)
  4. Cubs at Phillies                       Cubs (Postponed)
  5. Brewers at Pittsburgh             Pirates
  6. Tigers at Indians                     Indians
  7. Mets at Braves                        Mets
  8. Cardinals at Reds                    Cardinals lost 11-0. To the Reds!
Friday- September 11, 2015

NFL Notes:

I just loved seeing that big Carolina Panthers DT Terry Redden intercept and run with the ball to provide some added momentum to the team as they quickly capitalized on the turnover. My son who is a Carolina Panthers fan was thrilled, too. My ears are still ringing.

Terrell Suggs ought to be ashamed after going for Sam Bradford’s knees. The object of the game is to defend your end zone so that the opponent doesn’t score. Crippling the opponent intentionally is low class. A good, fair hit to keep him from making a pass warrants no quibble from me. I especially want to see them extend a hand and tell the QB to try again in the spirit of good sportsmanship. A Yellow Flag of Shame to you, Terrell Suggs. For shame!

A Triumphant or Terrible Trend?

Friday's Finale
I've indicated my correct pics with a nice bold green.  The wrong picks will be marked appropriately. Terrible describes the percentage from last night's games. I kept trying to decide if I should pick the Nationals and said to myself, "Don't do it." Argh! Why did I not listen?

First Posting of August!

Just two days ago, these were my predictions. I took Friday off but will make my hopes and thoughts known about today’s games later. Apparently, you really don’t want me in Vegas. I told you. An abysmal twenty-five percent correctly predicted outcomes.
  1. NY Mets beat San Diego Padres.  No.
  2. Nationals thump the Marlins. Yes, but no thumping.
