He’s B-A-A-C-K!

Welcome back, Josh Hamilton.  Let’s hope you still have the moxie to help out the Rangers. We’ll see how it goes.  They need some help with that wretched 7-11 record as they host the Seattle Mariners who have the same record as the Rangers. Ugh.

NBA Predictions:

1.      Hawks visit Brooklyn tonight. Hawks win on the road.
2.      Memphis finishes the sweep of Portland in Oregon.
3.      The Bucks visit the Bulls, and the Bulls triumph.

B-ball and Hoops

A Bit of Baseball

My Rangers are helpless before the LA Angels. Sigh. Today won’t be a good showing either.  Here’s hoping Tim Lincecum is in top form against the Colorado Rockies. I wish the Brewers would beat the Cardinals, but that probably won’t happen today. In the Subway Series, the teams have split 1-1. While I’d prefer the Mets win, I have a sneaking suspicion the Yankees will eke out a victory.

NBA

The Grumpy Old Men host the Clippers this afternoon; my husband and son will be glued to the telly.  I don’t see a way for Toronto to triumph against the Wizards this evening.  Broom City expands to include the Celtics playing against the Cavaliers and the Mavericks squaring off against the Rockets. I’ve never been a fan of the Boston Celtics, so that result will not result in any waterworks, but the Mavericks have broken my heart. C’est la guerre!

Broom Time!

It's obviously time to get out the brooms in the Golden State-New Orleans series.  The Pelicans really put on a show in game three, but they let the Warriors back into the game and couldn't finish.  I hope they learn from this as they prepare for the off-season to begin tonight. I would like to be wrong, but why prolong the agony?  Lady Grid out.

Tune In Next Time?

I watched quite a bit of the Rangers-Mariners game last night then went to sleep. The loss for my Rangers just shows how the season is progressing so far. We are just half a game ahead of them in the standings and one game behind the Oakland As. Winning pitcher Felix Hernandez knows how to mess with our hitters.

Hmm, I missed the ejection of KC Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura in live ball play but saw the slide into his SS teammate Alcides Escobar that caused this whole mess. I don't believe Ventura was smiling so much as baring teeth after 3B Brett Lawrie had come to bat. It was more a case of when not if that some retaliation would occur.

Bryce Harper continues to astonish MLB faithful, and the Cubs won in extra innings over the San Diego Padres. The Cubs have a winning record. It's in print now.

We've got some fun hoops action for today with Boston at Cleveland, Brooklyn at Atlanta, Portland at Memphis, and San Antonio at Golden State. I believe Cleveland, Atlanta, Portland, and Golden State win today. No home team advantage to the Grizzlies today. My Mavericks didn't shoot as well as needed, so we're in the hole against the fired-up Houston Rockets. And I think it's gonna be a long, long time.

Ah, Baseball!

I'm impressed with the KC Royals' 7-0 start of the season.  Let's see how things pan out. I just know that the Boston Red Sox Nation is unhappy to be atop the AL East with the Bronx Bombers trailing along behind. I like Big Papi and his swagger. He keeps me laughing, usually. Sorry, Yankees fans. With their win today, my Rangers are just one game behind the AL West leaders the Oakland As.  Let's catch 'em, boys!  What's up with Carter Capps' pitching and jumping off the mound? I can hardly wait to show my baseball players to get their reactions.

This past Saturday found me watching the MLB channel with my Daddy. He used to make me watch the games with no sound to have me call strikes and balls. I often felt I knew better than the ump at the plate, but that's girlish bravado.  Lady Grid out.

#22

My condolences and sympathies to the family and close friends of Lauren Hill. She showed us all how to live in the face of an unrelenting opponent. I was saddened to learn of her passing and had relished every bit of time she had.

Farewell to Troy # 43

Troy Polamalu is retiring from his professional football career.  I bid my Samson safety farewell from the gridiron field and pray that his future endeavors ring with as much success and class as has been his modus operandi.  Good luck!

The Texas Rangers are sitting at a .500 record after four games against the Athletics.  I won't hold my breath, but I am hoping for a good showing in the series against the Astros that begins tomorrow afternoon. Let's go, Holland!

At press time, the Heat were down by nine points against the Bulls. Their record will be 19-20 at home. Ouch. Golden State hosts Portland.  Golden State has a 35-2 record at home. Nice playing with ya, Trailblazers!  Stephen Curry has a Stephen Curry night. Cue the soprano. The party's over.

Wishful Thinking?

Here's hoping the Dallas Mavericks have truly locked up the number seven seeding for the upcoming conference tournament.  No one in his or her right mind wants any part of the red-hot Golden State Warriors.  I just bet that they're going to go the distance and win the Western Conference title.  Good luck against them tonight at the AAC.

Good luck to Tiger Woods as he plans to play at the Masters golf tournament.

The new format for ESPN will take me a little bit to get used to, but I am a fast learner.
